A Letter from Chris – July 28th, 2023

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." – Gandalf, Lord of the Rings

Hello dear reader!

I hope you’ve been well! As always, its a pleasure to have you here! Here’s a bit about what’s happened this past month as well as what I have coming up.

A look back

This has been another exciting month for me. My upcoming debut novel, The Dance Between released on Reedsy Discovery; a site hosting the latest works of independent authors. Users are able to upvote books they’re most excited for and follow authors they enjoy. Another feature of Discovery, however, is the ability for authors to submit their works to a pool of vetted professional reviewers to receive a professional review. After nearly two months of waiting I finally received my very first one, and it was borderline glowing!

“The Dance Between…holds everything which makes humanity so precious (and dangerous): love, sorrow, growth, loss, etc. [It is] a wonderfully built epic fantasy and I would recommend it to any fans of the genre. 4/5 stars.”
–Megan Weiss, Reedsy Discovery.

If you’d like to read the full review you can find it here: https://reedsy.com/discovery/book/the-dance-between-christopher-katalinas#review

I was walking on air for three days after reading it myself.

You can also find the first chapter of my book on the above page as well! If you like what you read please consider upvoting it using the upvote button at the top; it’ll give me greater visibility and help me reach a wider audience!

A look forward

I’ll soon be disappearing into the Pennsylvania woods for Pennsic, the biggest Renaissance festival on the east coast!

But in more professional news, I’ll be making an appearance at Vallis Alps’ concert in Washington DC in September as one of their guests. Whether they put a mic in my hand and give me a stage to promote my book is up for speculation, but frankly I’ll just be happy to meet them. I went through a lot to get here and feel like I’m coming out a different person, so in that sense it feels like a fitting end to this leg of my journey.

I’ve been tinkering here and there with ideas for a sequel to TDB, but before I get to that I think I may like to write a novella starring the second most important character in my story: Lily. There are still questions that need answering, threads that need tying, and she’s the right girl for the job!

Lastly, things are moving along with getting an audiobook version of my novel completed, so stay tuned for that!

With my best wishes,

Christopher
